Collab integrates onsite childcare into existing coworking spaces, like WeWork, to create parent-friendly work environments. Collab wants to eliminate the need for parents to choose between families and career. With Collab, both mothers and fathers can continue to pursue the careers they love while the ones they love are being cared for by qualified professionals down the hall.

We at Collab understand that the transition into parenthood is a difficult one, and one that disproportionately rests on the shoulders of mothers. In the spirit of achieving gender equality through collaboration, we hope that Collab encourages all parents to lean in -- not just mothers -- as the responsibility of childcare should be shared. We truly believe that we are better when we work together.

OUR VISION
From the lack of national paid maternal leave in the U.S. to unequal pay, it is evident that gender equality and workforce equity is not our current reality. We at Collab aim to do our part in changing that narrative by telling all parents -- not just mothers -- that these issues are ones that we all take on. Our goal is to encourage all parents across the entire gender spectrum to participate in and engage with the Collab network.
It is only at the point when we all choose to collaborate will we truly begin to see change.

Two of our founders, Seimi Park and Michelle Ma, participated in an externship at WeWork in LA this past winter break, courtesy of Swarthmore's Career Services department. As you will see in the video, they discovered that although some accommodations for new mothers existed (read: there was a room the size of a closet with a few bare necessities), it clearly wasn't enough.

This is precisely why we need initiatives like Collab -- to show parents that we care, we want, and we will invest in them.
